Principle of the ultrasonic probe homogenizer

Through vibrations occurring 20, 000 times per second, the ultrasonic probe creates alternating high- and low-pressure zones within the liquid. In the low-pressure zones, countless tiny bubbles form; upon entering the high-pressure environment, these bubbles cannot maintain their state and instantly collapse (implode). This process generates powerful micro-jets and shear forces capable of breaking down droplets, dispersing agglomerates, rupturing plant and animal cell walls, and disrupting oil-water interfaces to facilitate rapid mixing.
